Importance of Independenttesting and certification (including failure statistics), Testing of Circuit-breakers, Transformer Testing Experiences & Standard developments

On September 8, 2025, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) jointly organized an academic seminar aimed at exchanging knowledge, experiences, and development approaches in the fields of energy and power systems. The event was attended by executives, engineers, and staff members from both organizations. The seminar was honored to have Dr. Shankar Subramany (Director, Technology & Innovation) as the Keynote Speaker, delivering insightful knowledge and up-to-date academic perspectives. His presentation covered topics including:The importance of independent testing and certification (with failure statistics)Testing of circuit breakersTransformer testing experiences and standard developments. Throughout the session, participants gained in-depth knowledge and practical guidelines applicable to real-world operations. This not only enhanced the capacity of personnel but also helped to elevate the standards of electricity services, making them more reliable, modern, and responsive to public needs. This academic seminar marked another significant step for both PEA and MEA in strengthening academic collaboration and innovation, moving toward becoming sustainable, modern electricity organizations.
